A delightful children´s book made in "peek-a-book" spirit. Surprises are to be found behind the holes and folds. The pages are solid enough even for the hands of the smallest readers. The red cloth spine nicely suits the cheerful illustrations filling the double page spreads.

The tall and narrow format has once again been used so skillfully that it feels new. The front and back cover form almost of their own will an amusing entity, decisively divided by the red spine. Illustrations fill the pages inside starting from the endpages, leaving only the title page white. The coloring and composition is so vibrant and light that the reader´s interest is never lost.

Hellevi Salminen

Kuinka pikku Täplästä tuli iso koira

Published by Otava Publishing Company Ltd.
Printed and bound by Otavan Kirjapaino Oy
Reproduction Aste Kirjat Oy
Graphic design and illustration Erika Kallasmaa
Paper Lux Cream 1.8 70 g/m2
Typeface Otavan Aapinen

A warm and loveable book. Its small size and endearing appearance are delightful. The illustrator must know the subject well, so distinct are her small studies of dogs and their territories. She has brought the best out of the black and whiteness of the illustrations, by richly altering different textures and surfaces. The illustrations of different sizes and shapes enliven the layout in a charming way. The typography is refreshing with its relaxed hand lettering. You´d almost want to cuddle this book!
