This non-fiction comic book is a bold and exceptional achievement. The soft-touch laminate cover feels like a suitably playful choice for the subject matter. The colour choices used to distinguish the different sections harmonise with the themes and refresh the reading experience. The comics on the interior pages blend seamlessly with historical archive material, guiding the reader through sometimes heavy information in a surprisingly light and accessible way.

Classic book design never goes out of style. The text and expertly edited images are carefully arranged on beautiful paper. The visual presentation of the book’s interior design tips, particularly the colours, is delightful. The attractive cover encourages browsing, while also making the book a beautiful decorative object.

The rough texture of the cover evokes the feel of stone, while the small foil- stamped texts resemble flecks of muscovite in granite. The book is constructed from several special elements: Swiss binding, foil, embossing, three different paper types, felt-marking, and a flap cover that encloses the book. This softcover exhibition catalogue approaches a contemporary art object itself and raises questions about materiality and the effects of wear through use.
